I started with research to figure out every detail of the event that I could obtain.
Then I designated my audience: anime fans who like to dress up (cosplay) as characters and those who just want to participate in activities. These people would already be very familiar with the event even if they haven’t gone before so that was something of importance to note.
Communication goals: represents anime culture, consistency, fun/excitement

After researching Instagram ads that I found successful, I used some techniques as inspiration for the direction I wanted to go in.
I wanted to do something poppy and cheerful, something like what most anime distributors do for their animated logos that show up before an episode starts.
